“…In the nutriblock, if you don’t mind.” Oberos reached back and closed the entrance to the hive before leading Makoen downstairs with him, all the while silently lamenting his freshly cleaned floors. Oh well, he could always clean again later…

“How have you been since our last meeting? Busy with settling in, one would presume.”

Makoen followed Oberos down to the nutriblock.  He felt bad about getting the floor dirty, but there was really no way around it.  They reached the nutriblock and he set the fish down on the counter that was indicated.

“Pretty good, I guess.  I think I’m fairly settled in at this point,” he said, rotating his shoulders now that the weight was off of them.  “Have you, uh, got a place I can clean up and change?”

Oberos hadn’t thought that his guest would be coming over in need of a shower, and for the briefest moment concern flickered across his face as he wondered if the hygeineblock was still bloody… but then, he squinted his eyes so that he could access his robotic optics’ applications screen, skimming through the previous hour’s recordings as he tried to pass off his expression for one of deep thought. Ever since a few perigees ago the recording program had begun to store less and less data, and now he was left with only an hour… which couldn’t verify the cleanliness of his hygeineblock.

He would start to look even more suspicious if he didn’t stop squinting at nothing soon.

“…Of course. My hygeineblock is accessible through the third door on the left, that way… please, don’t mind the mess. I’m not sure that I cleaned that particular block properly before you arrived. And feel free to use any of my hygeinic products as you see fit.”

Well, Oberos certainly hadn’t expected to see a fish of such magnitude simply slung over Makoen’s shoulder like that, gleaming in the diminishing light of evening as it shed its scales and its blood against his guest’s body.

“…Well, I believe that I could easily look up recipes for the preparation of toothfish. It’s quite enormous, isn’t it?”

Oberos stepped aside and ushered Makoen inside with a wave of his hand, eyes whirring as he glanced over the fish.

“Would you like some help with that? I would hate to have my guest continue doing the heavy lifting once he’s entered my home.”

That being said, Oberos wasn’t certain that he could carry that thing so nonchalantly himself… perhaps he could capchalogue it? Where would such a thing fit into his ring modus?

Makoen stepped inside, doing his best not to drip scales or blood into Oberos’ nice clean floor.

“Nah, it’s chill,” the seadweller said in answer to his hosts’s offer.  “I got it.  Where do you want it?”

“…In the nutriblock, if you don’t mind.” Oberos reached back and closed the entrance to the hive before leading Makoen downstairs with him, all the while silently lamenting his freshly cleaned floors. Oh well, he could always clean again later…

Meanwhile, with an apron tied around his waist and his hands in elbow-length scrub gloves, Oberos’ portable computation device pinged him with a new message notice. Without even looking he could presume who it was, so he finished scrubbing down this particular portion of the livingblock and quickly capchalogued his cleaning supplies before answering the message.

Ah, so he was here already? He typed out a quick welcoming response, and then turned his attention back on the room around him. Clean, pristine, smelling of fresh flowers… there shouldn’t have been any more teal stains left over after a cleaning like that.

Oberos went upstairs, passing through his former nesting chamber, and opened the front door.

Makoen grinned at him, mostly dry from the walk, though his hair was still wet.  He had what could only be described as a giant fish slung across his shoulders, shedding a few silvery scales onto the fabric of his wetsuit.

“Hi!” he greeted Oberos, shifting the weight of the dead fish slightly as he spoke.  “It’s a toothfish.  I hope it’ll be okay?”

II: +ok cool!+

Makoen spent the next night and early morning scoping out the waters to see what would be big enough in the area to feed two trolls.  He had no doubt that whatever he caught Oberos would make it tasty.

So he started out early the next evening, dodging rays from the setting sun and diving deep into the water where the light was filtered and harmless.  It took him about an hour before he’d caught the fish he was pursuing, thrusting his rapier through the spinal column at the back of its neck because it was too thick to bite through.

Makoen waded out of the water, the sun almost fully set now.  He took a couple minutes to put his regular clothes into the waterproof bag, tying it around his waist before sending Oberos a message to let the other troll know he was on the way.
